I am director of operations, and the human resources manager reports to me. She completes the work I assign her, but shows no initiative and never comes up with projects on her own. I'm not an expert in human resources, so I don't know everything else she should be doing. What do you suggest here?

All of us work hard, but there is one person in our department who is just plain lazy. Her work is sloppy, she is late on everything, and she causes the rest of us to fall behind. Our manager says we should take care of this ourselves, but we have met with her, and she has made no effort to improve. What should we do now?

On a recent assignment from my manager, I took a different and creative approach, and I thought the final result was better than anticipated. My manager was upset and said he is paying me to do my job, and not paying me to think. I was shocked and wonder if I should leave.
