Committees Arguments Self-Insight Control Freaks

I was on a committee that is chaired by a senior manager, but I disagreed with several of his ideas. He insists on having everything his way, and now the committee is still meeting, but I am not invited. I liked the other people on it, and I would like to be on it again. How can I do this?

Since this is a committee where your ideas are ignored and you have been left behind, the real question is why you are still chasing it. You did not express any interest in the actual work of this committee. The only positive aspect you mentioned is your friendship with the other members. If that is the case, get in touch with these employees independent of the committee.

You should also take another look at your behavior on this committee. You said you disagreed with several of the chairperson's ideas, but were these disagreements actually arguments? Is it possible that the chair views you as a disruptive element?

In addition, why do you really want to get back on this committee, especially since you were removed without even being told? Could it be pride, embarrassment, or a chance to get away from other responsibilities? Your answer will help you better understand yourself and your needs, and this is information that can help you determine if you should commit to any committee.
