Complaints Drinking

My manager is always carrying a bottle of water. If you meet in her office, she has one, and whenever she is in other work areas, her bottle is always with her. I don't know if she is trying to say something to us coffee drinkers, or if she thinks she looks cool with it, but I think it's a bit much. Is it worth saying something to her?

Although you are concerned about your manager and her bottles of water, your concern really does not hold water. There must be something else about this manager that is bothering you, because her desire to drink water throughout the day is strictly a background issue. Try to set the water bottle issue aside and see if you can come up with some other concerns about your working relationship with her.

Obviously, if she were proselytizing about the evils of other beverages, or if she were spilling water all over everything and everyone, then it might be issue. Assuming that she is effectively carrying out her managerial responsibilities, the water consumption is really a non-event.

It is often recommended that people drink several glasses of water each day, and your manager might have a medical condition that requires her to consume even more. Either way, there is no need for you to try to attribute any messages to her water consumption. However, the fact that you raised the issue of coffee might indicate concern about your own consumption in this area.
